Cosmeston Lakes Country Park and Medieval Village

Cosmeston has a variety of habitats covering over 100 hectares of land and water, some areas designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest protecting the rare and diverse plant and animal species.

 

The Country park opened to the public in 1978 and gained Local Nature Reserve status in May 2013. Today Cosmeston Lakes Country Park is a haven for local wildlife.

Season Parking Tickets 

Season tickets are available to regular visitors to our country parks. 

  • £35 for 6 months
  • £55 for 12 months

Country park season tickets can be used in both Cosmeston and Porthkerry country parks.

  • Cafe includes toilets and nappy changing facilities
  • Adventure Playground

  • Picnic Areas
  • Bicycles are welcome. Bicycles are not permitted on the boardwalks.
  • Dogs welcome. Please ensure dogs are kept under control and on leads in the car park and around the east lake
  • Permit required for some areas.
  • Drones and radio controlled aircraft are not permitted in the park for health and safety reasons.
  • Conservation Areas
  • Lake can only be hired by water sport clubs and model boat clubs registered with the Vale of Glamorgan Council

Horse riders

Horse Riding

Horse riding is permitted along the mile road bridle way, however, if you wish to ride on the main paths round the East and West lakes you will have to purchase a permit at £30.00 per year available from reception.
