It can happen to anyone regardless of age, gender, race, religion or sexual orientation. Even though people assume domestic abuse is mainly about physical violence, it includes a range of actions against a person including name-calling, isolating from family and friends, emotional mind games and threatening.
This abuse also relates to the perpetrator allowing or causing a child to witness, or be at risk of witnessing domestic abuse.
