The Housing Solutions team can provide advice and assistance around your housing situation. Our aim is to help prevent you from becoming homeless where possible.

  

During your appointment you are likely to be asked to provide information and documentation which will help us to decide whether you are eligible for assistance. It is important that you provide all of the requested information to your housing solutions officer promptly to enable them to fully assess your case. 

 

Please note: Due to the implementation of the Housing (Wales) Act 2014 we are now able to solve your housing challenges by securing accommodation in the private rented sector with an Assured Shorthold Tenancy that lasts no less than six months.

 

Do you require an appointment?

Below are examples of where an appointment may be required: 

  • Notice received from your landlord 
  • Currently living in unsuitable accommodation 
  • Homeless as a result of an emergency 
  •  Affordability concerns

It is extremely important that you seek advice at the earliest opportunity if you are experiencing difficulties in sustaining your tenancy or are at risk of losing your home and becoming homeless.

 

Appointments are available hourly from 9.00am until 5.00pm Monday - Thursday.

 

Please note: We also operate a drop-in emergency service for individuals who require urgent intervention. Please ensure you call ahead if you require emergency assistance.

Information you may need to provide

You may be asked to provide some of the following documentation in order to assess your situation.

 

Please note: If you have just left the Armed Forces or have been released from prison you will need to bring your discharge/release papers.

  •  Proof of your identity:

     - Your birth certificate

     - Your passport

     - A document confirming your National Insurance number

     - Your driving licence

     - Your medical card

     - A recent utility bill

     

  • Details of you income:

    - Last 3 months bank statements, for all open accounts including savings accounts

    - Benefit award letters

    - Last 3 months payslips (or 5 weekly if you are paid weekly)

     

    Please note we also require proof of income for any non-dependant children included on your application for housing.

     

     

     

     

  •  If you have children:

     - Full birth certificate for any children under the age of five who are included in your application for housing. 

     - Any official documents that show arrangements concerning the children.

  •  If you are pregnant:

     - Your maternity certificate or hospital notes confirming your pregnancy, this should show the estimated due date.

    - Scan photo with clear details

  • If you are in a private rented property:

     - The tenancy agreement that you were given at the start of the tenancy and any other contract that you were given later.

     - Deposit protection confirmation.

     - If you are can't locate your tenancy agreement bring the notice to vacate that you have received.

  • If you are selling your home:
    Confirmation from your solicitor of the sale of your property detailing the value of the property, the amount of mortgage still outstanding and the amount of capital you are likely to receive when the property is sold.
  • If legal action is being taken to repossess your home
    The Court summons for possession with details of the application for possession, the court order for possession, and the Bailiffs Warrant for possession if applicable. 
  • If the Home Office is dealing with your application for to stay in the country, or has dealt with one in the past
    Letters from the Immigration and Nationality Department confirming this, or a letter notifying you of the decision of your application.
