The group is part of the Children’s Commissioner for Wales’ Community Ambassadors scheme.
The Rights Ambassadors project raises awareness of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC)and the Children & Young People’s National Participation Standards.
The project gives young people the opportunity to make a positive contribution to their local community. Our Rights Ambassadors develop a range of transferable skills in communication and public speaking as well as planning, problem solving and organising.
The Vale Rights Ambassadors work as Community Ambassadors for the Children’s Commissioner for Wales. Community Ambassadors are children and young people who are a part of a special interest group and have volunteered to be ambassadors for the Children’s Commissioner for Wales to feed into her work. We also support the Super and Student Ambassadors schemes in the Vale.
Support young people with the development and delivery of workshops and presentations to raise awareness of the UNCRC and the National Participation Standards.
Help young people complete a Rights Mission each term as part of their Community Ambassadors work for the Children’s Commissioner.
Encourage schools across the local authority to participate in the Children’s Commissioner’s Super Ambassador and Student Ambassador Schemes.
Provide a non-formal learning environment where young people can achieve a range of accredited and non-accredited outcomes as well as rewarding them for their volunteering hours.
Here is our 2022/2023 Vale Rights Ambassadors video, it showcases young people’s achievements raising awareness of the UNCRC and Children’s Rights:
