This project provides young people with a platform to work on the issues that matter to them. As a youth council member, young people represent their peers and advocate for positive change and children’s rights across the Vale of Glamorgan. The project provides young people with a space to not only give their input on topics that matter but also to ensure that young people’s thoughts and opinions are raised with the Vale of Glamorgan Council.
Youth Council meets on the last Wednesday of every month at the Civic Offices in Barry.
Current discussion points and priorities include: Mental Health Support for Young People, Climate Conversations Event, Education Support.
Empower young people to take action to improve local and Vale-wide facilities such as parks and youth services.
Organise teambuilding days and residential weekends.
Provide accredited training for all members that is recognised by colleges, universities and employers.
Enable members to receive recognition for their volunteering hours.
The Vale Youth Council recently worked in partnership with the Vale of Glamorgan Council to host a Climate Conversations event in October 2023. The event supported the council’s response to the climate change emergency and its Project Zero goals. You can visit the following website to find out more about the Climate Conversations event:
