These are contained in the draft Corporate Plan, which describes an ambitious programme of work to deliver the Council’s vision of Strong Communities with a Bright Future.

To achieve this, the Council has set five draft objectives:

• Creating Great Places to Live, Work and Visit

• Representing and Celebrating the Environment

• Giving Everyone a Good Start in Life

• Supporting and Protecting Those Who Need Us

• Being the Best Council We Can Be

In developing these draft objectives and the outcomes and actions aligned to them, feedback from residents has been an important consideration.

This includes the results of the Let’s Talk residents survey and findings from the Annual Self-Assessment, an exercise that identified areas for improvement and ways in which the Council can change.

Now the Authority wants to hear further views from anyone interested in setting the organisation’s direction from 2025 to 2030 and beyond.

These can be shared by completing an online survey, which will run from October 14 to December or at one of four in-person events taking place across the County.

These will be held at locations in Barry, Penarth, Cowbridge and Llantwit major, while there are also plans to consult with specific groups.

Councillor Lis Burnett, Leader of the Vale of Glamorgan Council, said. “I’m proud of the work that has so far gone into creating the draft Corporate Plan 2025-30. This document presents the Authority’s vision for the next five years as we look to further strengthen and develop our communities.

“Residents are at the very centre of this process. This plan is designed to help us better deliver for the people of the Vale and their thoughts will be central to shaping it.

“Issues raised through engagement and consultation have played a major role in guiding work so far and the opinions of those living in our community will remain of paramount importance moving forwards.  As a Council, we are listening.”

Rob Thomas, Chief Executive of the Vale of Glamorgan Council, said: “We continue to face a number of significant challenges as a Council. Through this draft plan, we aim to work with partners and our communities to address these difficulties together and meet the short and longer-term needs of the Vale of Glamorgan. In doing so we will deliver strong communities with a bright future.”

The Corporate Plan will be developed in line with the Future Generations and Wellbeing Act, legislation designed to improve people’s lives in the short, mid and long-term.

Producing it is a Welsh Government requirement and a final version will be published in the spring.
Progress on its actions and outcomes are then monitored through the Council’s Corporate Performance Framework.
