School Organisational Changes

Cowbridge School

To meet increased demand for primary education in the Cowbridge area, Cowbridge Comprehensive School will become an all through 3-19 school from September 2023, providing 210 primary and 48 nursery places. A nursery unit will be established at Cowbridge School for September 2023 with 48 places available for parents of nursery age children to apply for a place.

The catchment area for the primary phase at Cowbridge Comprehensive School will mirror that of Y Bont Faen Primary School, which also provides nursery provision. As with all applications, it is therefore important that parents submit more than one school preference on their application form.

St Nicholas C/W Primary

In order to meet requirements for nursery provision at the school, a nursery unit will be established at St Nicholas C/W Primary School for September 2023 with 24 places available for parents of nursery age children to apply for a place. A new 126 place school with additional 24 part time nursery places will be built replacing the previous school building.

As with all applications, it is therefore important that parents submit more than one school preference on their application form.

More information on the Council’s 21st Century Schools Programme can be found on the Council’s website

Please apply on time. You can view important dates during the application process for a school place below. If you miss the closing date you cannot make a late application online. You will need to complete a late application form on paper. Missing the application deadline could significantly affect your chance of getting the place you want.

Late applications will not be considered during the initial round of allocations on the publicised offer date. Many schools will be fully subscribed after the first round, so it is important to submit your application on time to have the best chance of securing a place at your preferred school. Following the first round of allocations, all late applications received will be considered along with any children on the waiting list.
